How to take and ship the sample

  1. Run the equipment to bring the engine oil or other lubricant to operating temperature.
  2. Pull a representative sample from the equipment with the lubricant at operating temperature, ideally mid-stream during a drain or through a sample port. Avoid samples from the bottom of the sump where settled debris can skew the result.
  3. Cap and seal the sample container, label it with equipment, fluid, hours or mileage, and date.
