What 0W-20 viscosity actually means
0W-20 is a multi-grade rating defined by SAE J300. The 0W is the winter grade, measured by cold-cranking and pumping viscosity at low temperatures. The 20 is the high-temperature grade, measured by kinematic viscosity at 100 degrees Celsius and high-shear viscosity at 150 degrees Celsius.
