AMSOIL 0W-20 100% Synthetic Hybrid Motor Oil
AMSOIL 0W-20 100% Synthetic Hybrid Motor Oil is a purpose-built SAE 0W-20 formulation for hybrid electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles whose internal combustion engine cycles on and off many times per drive. The formulation targets the three operating conditions that punish hybrid lubricants: condensation buildup from cool, intermittent running, fuel dilution from frequent cold-cylinder starts, and the need for instant oil flow when the engine engages to assist the electric motor at high rpm.
Built for the hybrid drive cycle
Hybrid engines run intermittently. Long electric-only segments leave the crankcase cool, the engine restarts at low oil temperature, and operating loads on the ICE stay light. AMSOIL 0W-20 100% Synthetic Hybrid Motor Oil is engineered around that pattern rather than around continuous-running passenger-car operation. The 100 percent synthetic base oils flow at very low temperatures and resist the oxidation that short, low-temperature trips accelerate.
Corrosion and water-condensation control
Cool, infrequent ICE operation does not always evaporate moisture out of the crankcase, and trapped water can drive rust, wear, and lost efficiency on bearings, cams, valvetrain hardware, and ferrous wear surfaces. The formulation carries a boosted dose of corrosion inhibitors aimed specifically at condensation-related corrosion, plus an elevated level of dispersants engineered to keep that condensation water suspended in the oil rather than separating onto metal surfaces between drives.
Fuel-dilution defense
Frequent stop-start activity produces cooler combustion chambers and more incomplete combustion than a continuously running engine experiences. Unburnt fuel can wash down the cylinder walls, dilute the oil in the sump, and thin the oil film. The 0W-20 grade is built with robust viscosity to hold an in-grade oil film when fuel dilution would otherwise drag the working viscosity below SAE 0W-20 limits, maintaining wear protection through the full hybrid drain interval.
Cold-start flow and viscosity stability
When a hybrid engine wakes up to support acceleration, climb a grade, or run accessories, the oil has to reach the top end and the bearings before high rpm arrives. Low-temperature viscosity control is engineered for rapid component protection at startup, with cold pumpability that delivers oil through the gallery and to the valvetrain on the first revolutions after engine engagement, not several seconds in.
Cold-temperature performance verified by independent testing
Independent third-party testing of AMSOIL 0W-20 100% Synthetic Hybrid Motor Oil and Mobil 1 0W-20 Hybrid Full Synthetic Motor Oil in the industry-standard ASTM D5293 Cold Crank Simulator test required by SAE J300 measured up to 16 percent better low-temperature viscosity for the AMSOIL formulation, indicating better oil flow and faster lubrication at cold start. The SAE J300 maximum CCS limit at the test temperature is 6,200 cP for SAE 0W oils, and the AMSOIL CCS value at -35 degrees Celsius is 5,295 cP per ASTM D5293.
Industry specifications and OEM approvals
The 0W-20 grade is API licensed and meets API SQ (Resource Conserving), API SP, and API SN Plus, with the Resource Conserving designation indicating fuel-economy performance above the base API service category. ILSAC coverage includes GF-7A, GF-6A, and GF-5. The formulation also meets GM dexos1 Gen 3 (which supersedes dexos1 Gen 2 and the older 6094M), Chrysler MS-6395, and Ford WSS-M2C962-A1 and WSS-M2C972-A1. That cross section covers most modern Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Ford, Hyundai, Kia, GM, and Stellantis hybrid passenger cars, light trucks, and SUVs that call for a 0W-20.
Recommended applications and service intervals
Use AMSOIL 0W-20 100% Synthetic Hybrid Motor Oil in any HEV or PHEV application whose owner manual calls for an SAE 0W-20 meeting one or more of the specifications listed above. The product is built for the hybrid duty cycle on personal vehicles inside the United States and Canada, and stays in grade across the full normal-service interval.
Normal service: up to 15,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first, in personal vehicles not operating under severe service.
Severe service: follow the severe-service drain interval prescribed by the vehicle manufacturer in the owner manual.
Not recommended for engines that call for a different SAE viscosity grade or a non-API specification not covered above. Match the right product with the AMSOIL Vehicle Lookup Guide.
Outside the United States and Canada, follow the OEM service interval published for the local market.
The formulation is compatible with other conventional and synthetic motor oils, and can be topped off in an emergency. Mixing other oils, however, shortens the oil life expectancy and reduces the performance benefits of the synthetic formulation, and extended drain intervals are not supported when oils have been mixed. Aftermarket oil additives are not recommended for use with AMSOIL synthetic motor oils. Pair the oil with an AMSOIL Oil Filter sized for the drain interval to take full advantage of the protection package.

My go to oil for the Maverick
I am happy to use the Amsoil hybrid oil in our 2023 Maverick. I save .2 quarts every change so after 4 changes I will have to buy one less quart. I appreciate the free sticker which is displayed on my toolbox.
What makes hybrid motor oil different from a standard 0W-20?
A hybrid-specific 0W-20 is engineered for engines that cycle on and off through a drive instead of running continuously. The formulation carries a boosted corrosion-inhibitor package and elevated dispersants for condensation control, robust in-grade viscosity for fuel-dilution resistance, and low-temperature viscosity tuned for rapid lubrication when the ICE engages. A standard 0W-20 designed for continuous-running passenger cars is not optimized for those three conditions.
Is AMSOIL 0W-20 Hybrid Motor Oil right for a Toyota Prius or Camry Hybrid?
The 0W-20 grade meets the API and ILSAC service categories used by most modern Toyota and Lexus hybrid powertrains that call for an SAE 0W-20. Confirm application match for a specific year and model with the AMSOIL Vehicle Lookup Guide before ordering.
Does this oil meet GM dexos1 Gen 3?
Yes. AMSOIL 0W-20 100% Synthetic Hybrid Motor Oil meets GM dexos1 Gen 3, which supersedes dexos1 Gen 2 and the older 6094M specification. It also meets Chrysler MS-6395 and Ford WSS-M2C962-A1 and WSS-M2C972-A1 for non-Toyota hybrid platforms that share the 0W-20 viscosity grade.
How long can the oil stay in service?
Normal service in personal vehicles inside the United States and Canada runs up to 15,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first, when the vehicle is not operating under severe service. Severe service follows the severe-service drain interval prescribed by the vehicle manufacturer in the owner manual.
Is it safe for plug-in hybrid (PHEV) vehicles?
Yes. The product is purpose built to combat the low-temperature, short-trip, and fuel-dilution conditions common to both HEV and PHEV powertrains. PHEVs that operate on electric power for the majority of short trips create even longer cool-running stretches between full ICE engagements, which is exactly what the corrosion and dispersant chemistry is engineered to manage.
Will using this oil void a new-vehicle warranty?
No. Using AMSOIL synthetic lubricants does not void a new vehicle or equipment manufacturer warranty, and all AMSOIL lubricants and filters are covered by the AMSOIL Limited Warranty.
Can a non-hybrid 0W-20 be substituted in a hybrid?
A standard 0W-20 that meets the same API and ILSAC categories will lubricate a hybrid engine, but it is not optimized for the cool, intermittent duty cycle. The hybrid formulation adds the corrosion, dispersancy, and cold-flow tuning that short-trip hybrid operation rewards, and it is the recommended choice when the owner manual calls for an SAE 0W-20.
