AMSOIL Spray Grease (GSP) is a white lithium aerosol lubricant engineered for hard-to-reach pivot points, hinges, latches, sliding rails, cables, springs, and other external moving parts where a grease gun cannot easily fit. The aerosol delivery sprays in light, low-viscosity coats that crawl into tight clearances, then sets up into a lasting white lithium grease film that protects against wear, friction, and corrosion on exposed metal.
Aerosol delivery reaches points a grease gun cannot
Pivots and slides on garage doors, overhead door tracks, latches, locks, hood releases, parking-brake cables, and similar assemblies often live in narrow gaps that block a grease-gun nozzle. Spray Grease atomizes the lubricant so it can be directed straight into those gaps, and a flexible extension tube on the can lets the spray fan reach behind hardware without disassembly. Light, even coats apply quickly and evenly, building up a uniform grease film without the dripping and flinging that comes with hand-applied bulk grease.
White lithium chemistry that adheres after the carrier flashes off
The active lubricant is a white lithium grease, a soap-thickened formulation known for staying put on vertical surfaces and metal-to-metal contact zones once the propellant carrier flashes off. The set-up film is tacky enough to resist sling, drip, and wash-off, which is why white lithium is the chemistry of choice for garage door rollers, springs, and cables that move repeatedly under load. The white color also makes it easy to see where the grease has been applied, so coverage gaps on hinges and latches show up at a glance.
Reduces friction and wear on moving parts
Spray Grease lays down a continuous lubricating film that separates moving metal surfaces, reducing the metal-to-metal contact responsible for squeaks, binding, and accelerated wear on small mechanical assemblies. In real-world service on garage door springs, rollers, hinges, latches, door strikers, parking-brake cables, tailgate hinges, and overhead-door tracks, that film keeps components running clean and trouble-free for outstanding performance and long life. The grease also reduces the risk of seized hinges, frozen latches, and stuck springs in equipment that sees occasional rather than continuous use.
Excellent water resistance for outdoor and humid service
Garage doors, exterior latches, receiver hitches, and trailer cable assemblies live exposed to rain, snow, road spray, and humidity. Spray Grease delivers excellent water resistance, holding the protective film in place when the lubricated surface is rinsed, splashed, or exposed to high humidity. That water resistance is paired with corrosion protection that helps keep wear and rust from forming on exposed external metal between service intervals.
Quiet, squeak-free operation across automotive, garage, and equipment uses
The film also damps the metal-on-metal noise that produces hinge squeak, lock chatter, and the popping noises common to garage-door pivots and rollers. The same formulation is rated for industrial chains, slides, winches, thrust bearings, gears, nuts and bolts, locks, guide rails, bushings, ball joints, and other external moving parts where smooth, squeak-free operation matters. The non-dripping film helps the spray stay where it was aimed, instead of running down onto floor surfaces or interior hardware.
Recommended applications and service intervals
Spray Grease is designed for hinges, industrial chains, latches, slides, winches, overhead door tracks, thrust bearings, gears, cables, nuts and bolts, locks, guide rails, springs, bushings, ball joints, garage doors, receiver hitches, pivot points, and other external moving parts. Application is straightforward: shake the can well, clean the area to be lubricated, and spray in light, even coats. The supplied extension tube directs the spray fan into hard-to-reach pivots and gaps.
Disconnect the power source on electrical equipment before spraying to keep aerosol overspray clear of live components.
Reapply when the existing grease film has thinned or visibly washed off, or when squeak, binding, or noisy operation returns.
Not intended as a high-load wheel-bearing or chassis grease for vehicles. For wheel bearings, fifth wheels, U-joints, and similar high-load chassis grease points, choose a heavy-duty NLGI 2 grease from the AMSOIL grease family.
Available in the United States only. The 10 oz. aerosol can is not for sale in Canada or California.
Aerosols may have different disposal requirements than other waste in the local area. Dispose of contents and container in accordance with all federal, state, provincial, and local regulations. Smitten w/White Lithium
Used various other similar products on garage door hinges to stop squeaking and popping. None worked until I tried the Amsoil brand. Applied to joint hinges and rollers a month ago and still working like a champ with no squeaking or popping.

I didn’t know how badly I needed this.
I only purchased this because I was $.73 away from free shipping. When it came in I started using it just to try to get my money’s worth, and I’ve been impressed with every use. I used it while rebuilding a SxS engine, on my cylinder walls when replacing my heads, on my truck doors, my tailgate hinges and latches, on a roll up shop door, as a cutting lube, while installing suspension bushings, and more. All this on just my first can. I like that it doesn’t seem to attract dust like other lubes do when used on my tailgate and door hinges. I use it sparingly and I’ve been impressed with how long the can lasts. I’ve been so happy with it that, when my first can recently started getting low, I purchased another can. 11/10 would recommend.
White lithium grease in aerosol form is built for lubricating exposed external moving parts where a low-viscosity penetrating spray needs to set up into a lasting grease film. Common targets include garage door rollers, hinges, springs and tracks, automotive door and tailgate hinges, hood release latches, parking-brake and tiller cables, sliding rails, locks, latches, receiver hitches, and other pivot points that benefit from a tacky, water-resistant lubricant film.
Is white lithium grease the same thing as lithium spray?
Both names refer to the same family of soap-thickened greases that use a lithium-based thickener combined with a base oil. The spray version is the same lithium grease delivered through an aerosol can with a propellant carrier, instead of packed into a tube or cartridge. AMSOIL Spray Grease is a white lithium grease delivered as an aerosol so it can reach hinges, springs, and other pivot points that a grease gun cannot easily access.
White lithium grease in a tube versus an aerosol spray, which fits the job?
Tube or cartridge grease applied with a grease gun gives more precise placement and a heavier deposit at zerk fittings or open bearing surfaces. An aerosol spray is the better tool for narrow gaps, latches, sliding rails, garage-door tracks, exposed cables, hood releases, and other points without grease fittings, where the low-viscosity spray needs to crawl in and then set up into a film. Many garages keep both: a grease gun for chassis points with zerks, and an aerosol can for everything else.
Will Spray Grease wash off in rain or snow?
Spray Grease is formulated with excellent water resistance and adheres to metal surfaces for long-lasting performance, so the film is built to hold up under rain, road spray, and high humidity on exposed external assemblies such as garage door springs, receiver hitches, trailer cables, and outdoor latches. Reapply when the film has visibly thinned or when squeak, binding, or noisy operation returns.
Can Spray Grease be used on bicycle chains, motorcycle chains, or industrial chains?
The formula is rated for industrial chains and other external moving parts. For bicycle and motorcycle drive chains specifically, follow the chain manufacturer recommendation, since dedicated chain lubricants are tuned for high-speed sling resistance on roller chains. AMSOIL Spray Grease is at its best on the broader category of pivots, hinges, springs, cables, slides, and overhead door chains where a tacky, water-resistant film is the priority.
Is Spray Grease safe to apply on or near electrical assemblies?
Disconnect the power source on any electrical equipment before spraying. The directions printed on the label call out this step before any application near electrical hardware, so aerosol overspray and propellant cannot reach live components. Once the equipment is de-energized and the area to be lubricated is clean, apply Spray Grease in light, even coats and use the extension tube to direct the spray into tight pivots and hinges.
Why is AMSOIL Spray Grease not for sale in California or Canada?
Aerosol product availability varies by jurisdiction because of regional regulations on aerosol propellants, volatile organic compounds, and packaging. AMSOIL Spray Grease is available in the United States only, and the 10 oz. spray can is not for sale in Canada or California. Customers in those regions should choose a tube, cartridge, or grease-gun-compatible product from the AMSOIL grease lineup instead.
