AMSOIL X-Treme Synthetic Food-Grade Grease is an ultra-premium NLGI #2 aluminum complex grease formulated for food-processing, beverage, and pharmaceutical-industry equipment where incidental food contact is possible. The product is registered H-1 by NSF (Registration No. 172163) and meets the requirements of FDA 21 CFR 178.3570 for non-toxic additive chemistry.
X-Treme Synthetic Food-Grade Grease is registered Category H-1 by NSF for use as a lubricant in and around food-processing areas. The formulation uses non-toxic additives compliant with FDA 21 CFR 178.3570, the federal regulation that governs lubricants where incidental contact with food is possible. That makes the grease appropriate for bakery line bearings, dairy mixer pivots, brewery conveyor rollers, meat-processing equipment, beverage bottling-line slides, and packaging-machinery linkages where a standard lithium or barium grease cannot be specified.
The aluminum complex thickener gives X-Treme Synthetic Food-Grade Grease a 525°F (273°C) dropping point by ASTM D2265, strong adhesion to bearing surfaces, and proven resistance to plant washdown chemicals and direct water spray. Water washout loss measures 5.4 percent (ASTM D1264), keeping the grease in place during high-pressure rinses and steam cleaning. Treated bearings stay protected against rust and corrosion, confirmed by a Pass result on the ASTM D1743 rust test.
X-Treme Synthetic Food-Grade Grease provides exceptional performance across a continuous operating temperature range of -49°F to 392°F (-45°C to 200°C), with intermittent service tolerated up to 482°F (250°C). One grease covers walk-in cooler conveyors, blast freezer chain pins, and the hot bearing housings found on commercial ovens, baking lines, fryers, and pasteurization equipment, without rotating between a separate winter and summer product.
The formulation carries a 315 kgf Four-Ball EP weld point (ASTM D2596), a Load Wear Index of 44, and a 40 lbs Timken OK load (ASTM D2509). Four-Ball wear by ASTM D2266 measures 0.5 mm scar. These extreme-pressure numbers reduce friction and heat generation in heavily loaded chassis, conveyor, and roll-line bearings and help eliminate metal-to-metal contact in shock-loaded service common to food and beverage lines.
High-temperature bearing life by ASTM D3527 returns 48 hours, supporting extended re-greasing intervals on hot, continuously running food-processing bearings. Low-temperature torque measures 2.7 N·m at -40°C (-40°F) by ASTM D4693, so equipment pulled from a freezer line or started on a cold winter morning still pumps grease through fittings and central lubrication systems.
X-Treme Synthetic Food-Grade Grease is compatible with lithium complex, calcium 12-hydroxy, and other aluminum complex greases. It is not compatible with barium, bentonite clay, calcium, calcium complex, lithium, lithium 12-hydroxy, polyurea, or sodium greases. When switching from an incompatible grease type, complete purging of the bearing housing is required to avoid thickener interaction and consistency breakdown.
