AMSOIL 5W-30 100% Synthetic Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Oil is an all-weather Universal Tractor Transmission Oil (UTTO) engineered for the shared sumps in compact, utility, and agricultural tractors that lubricate the transmission, hydraulics, wet brakes, PTO, and final drives from one reservoir. The 5W-30 viscosity is targeted at John Deere, Kubota, Case-IH, New Holland, Massey-Ferguson, AGCO, Bobcat, Steiger, and Versatile equipment, plus lawn tractor and golf course mower hydrostatic systems running year-round.
All-weather flow from -58 F cold start to summer hydraulic temperature
Synthetic Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Oil flows at temperatures down to -58 F (-50 C) for improved equipment operation at low temperatures and holds a high viscosity index of 171 (ASTM D2270) to maintain lubricity at high operating temperatures. Cold-Crank Simulator viscosity is 4,772 cP at -30 C (ASTM D5293), so hydraulic pumps prime quickly on cold mornings and the fluid still keeps a 10.1 cSt film at 100 C (ASTM D445) when the pump and transmission heat soak under load. The result is one oil for year-round service that exceeds the all-weather viscosity requirements of Case New Holland 3525 and 3526 (formerly Ford New Holland FNHA-2-C-200 and 2-C-201) and John Deere J20C and J20D, eliminating seasonal change-outs.
Wet-brake friction control and chatter suppression
Compact and utility tractors use the same fluid in the transmission, the hydraulic system, and the wet brakes, which means brake feel and clutch engagement depend directly on the oil. Synthetic Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Oil is formulated with durable friction-modifier additives that suppress wet-brake chatter and deliver continuous frictional stability for long-term smooth brake operation. Stable friction control supports correct and decisive multi-disc clutch engagement, while anti-foam additives provide rapid air release for cooler running and control over fade and spongy hydraulic response under heavy implement work.
Anti-wear protection for pumps, gears, and final drives
Universal tractor fluid sees gear-tooth contact in the transmission and final drives plus high-pressure flow through gear, vane, and piston pumps in the hydraulic circuit. Synthetic Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Oil records a 0.37 mm wear scar in the Four-Ball Wear Test (ASTM D4172 at 40 kg, 75 C, 1200 rpm, 1 hour) and is engineered to deliver scoring and gear-wear protection under all load conditions, increased pump and valve life, and use in final drives calling for a UTTO.
Oxidation resistance and seal compatibility
Hydraulic-transmission fluid runs hot when a loader is loaded or a hydrostatic transmission is held at full pressure. Synthetic base oils combined with oxidation inhibitors resist oil degradation at high temperatures, extending lubricant and equipment life. Seal and hose conditioners keep elastomers flexible for positive seal seating, reduced leaking, and longer hose life. The 230 C (446 F) flash point and 246 C (475 F) fire point (ASTM D92) reflect the thermal headroom designed into the formula.
Universal coverage that consolidates inventory
One fluid covers a long list of OEM specifications, which lets a farm shop or fleet replace several house-branded UTHFs with a single drum. Synthetic Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Oil is a recommended fluid for John Deere J20C, J20D, J20A/B, J14A/B/C, and JDT303; Case New Holland MAT 3525 (FNHA-2-C-201, M2C134D), MAT 3526 (FNHA-2-C-200), and MS-1207 Hy-Tran Plus; Kubota UDT/M80B; Massey-Ferguson M-1141 (Permatran 821 XL); AGCO PowerFluid PF-821 XL; Allison C4, C3, C2; Caterpillar TO-2; Ford ESN M2C86B, M2C86C; Volvo VCE 1273.03; ZF TE-ML 03E, 05F, 06K, 17E; Parker Denison HF-0, HF-1, HF-2; Sauer-Sundstrand/Danfoss Hydrostatic Transmission Fluid; API GL-4; and Bobcat, Steiger, Landini, Fiat-Hesston, Versatile, and Sperry Vickers/Eaton hydraulic-transmission references.
Recommended applications and service intervals
Synthetic Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Oil is recommended for combinations of transmissions, hydraulic systems, final drives, power-take-off systems, and wet brakes operating in all-weather hot and cold temperatures. Match the fluid to the OEM specification on the dipstick or in the service manual rather than to the brand of tractor.
Farm tractors and equipment running John Deere, Case-IH, New Holland, Kubota, Massey-Ferguson, AGCO, Steiger, Versatile, Landini, or Fiat-Hesston UTHF specifications.
Compact utility tractors, lawn tractor hydrostatic transmissions, and golf course mower hydrostatic systems calling for J20C, J20D, UDT, or equivalent UTHF/UTTO grade.
Off-road equipment and forklift trucks specifying Allison C2/C3/C4, Caterpillar TO-2, ZF TE-ML 03E/05F/06K/17E, Parker Denison HF-0/HF-1/HF-2, Bobcat hydraulic and hydrostatic fluids, or Sauer-Sundstrand/Danfoss hydrostatic fluid.
Some 4x4 ATVs with wet-brake differentials. Vehicles outside North America should be matched to the OEM-specified grade through the AMSOIL Vehicle Lookup Guide.
Service life is recommended on an extended-drain basis governed by oil analysis. Synthetic Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Oil is compatible with conventional tractor hydraulic/transmission oils, but installation is best done as a full change-out: drain the existing hydraulic/transmission oil, change the hydraulic and transmission filters, then refill with the new fluid. Aftermarket additives are not recommended on top of a fully formulated UTHF.

I installed Amsoil 5W-30 100% Synthetic Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Oil at my 50 hour oil and filter change in my X390 lawn tractor. Mt tractor seems more responsive and quicker changing forward to reverse than before. I’ve no qualitative data, but by the seat of my pants evaluation this is what the 390 needed. I’ll use Amsoil when time comes to change the motor oil!

Heavy duty synthetic diesel oil; synthetic hydraulic oil
Products are awesome. Noticeable performance difference in my diesel boat and my diesel tractor. HOWEVER on my last two large orders I never got the "FREE " gift you promised!
Is this fluid the same as J20C tractor hydraulic fluid?
Synthetic Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Oil is recommended for John Deere J20C and meets the all-weather viscosity requirements of J20C alongside J20D (winter grade), J14A/B/C, JDT303, J20A/B, and J121A. The same fluid also covers Case New Holland MAT 3525 (FNHA-2-C-201, M2C134D), MAT 3526 (FNHA-2-C-200 winter grade), MS-1207 Hy-Tran Plus, Kubota UDT/M80B, and AGCO PowerFluid PF-821 XL, so a J20C call-out can be filled from a single drum across mixed-fleet farms and golf courses.
Will it work in a Kubota with the UDT specification?
Yes. Synthetic Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Oil is a recommended fluid for Kubota UDT/M80B compact and utility tractor hydraulic-transmission systems, including the shared sumps that feed the hydrostatic transmission, hydraulics, and wet brakes on most Kubota L, M, and B series tractors. Verify the exact UDT or UDT-2 call-out in the operator manual before topping off or changing fluid.
Can it be used in a hydrostatic transmission or a lawn tractor?
Lawn tractor hydrostatic transmissions and golf course mower hydrostatic systems are listed applications. The 5W-30 viscosity grade and a Cold-Crank Simulator value of 4,772 cP at -30 C support cold-morning startup and hydraulic priming, and the friction-modifier package keeps brake and clutch operation smooth as the system reaches operating temperature. Match the fluid to the OEM hydrostatic-fluid specification stamped on the unit before refilling.
How does the friction-modifier package handle wet-brake chatter?
Wet-brake chatter is most often a sign that the oil has lost frictional stability. Synthetic Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Oil uses durable friction-modifier additives that suppress wet-brake chatter and provide continuous frictional stability for long-term smooth brake operation.
How long can the fluid stay in service?
Synthetic Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Oil is recommended for extended oil drains based on oil analysis. Operators running heavy implements, prolonged hydrostatic load, or dusty harvest conditions should pull a sample at the OEM-recommended interval and let the analysis lab dictate when to change fluid and filters rather than relying on hours alone.
Can it be mixed with conventional tractor hydraulic fluid that is already in the sump?
The formula is compatible with conventional tractor hydraulic/transmission oils, so topping off in the field is acceptable. For full performance, drain the existing hydraulic/transmission oil, change hydraulic and transmission filters, and refill with Synthetic Tractor Hydraulic/Transmission Oil. Aftermarket hydraulic additives are not recommended on top of a fully formulated UTHF.
Will using this fluid void a new tractor warranty?
No. Using AMSOIL synthetic lubricants does not void a new vehicle or equipment manufacturer warranty, and AMSOIL products are backed by a Limited Warranty. Match the OEM UTHF or UTTO specification on the dipstick or service manual.
