AMSOIL ISO 32 100% Synthetic Multi-Viscosity Hydraulic Oil (product code HVH) is a fully synthetic, anti-wear, high viscosity-index hydraulic fluid for stationary and mobile gear, vane, and piston systems that operate across a wide temperature range. The ISO 32 grade carries a viscosity index of 165 and a pour point of -46 C (-51 F), staying fluid for cold-weather startups while resisting thermal breakdown at elevated temperatures. It is built for skid-steer hydraulics, outdoor mobile equipment, wood splitters, and other systems where a single-grade ISO 32 fluid is too narrow on viscosity-temperature performance.
Varnish-control technology and oxidation resistance
Synthetic Multi-Viscosity Hydraulic Oil is fortified with anti-varnish additives that chemically react with the building blocks of varnish, inhibiting its formation. That keeps valves, pumps, servos, and other components clean for solid performance, immediate response, and fewer breakdowns. Excessive oxidation produces harmful deposits and varnish that cause stuck valves and decreased efficiency, and in severe oxidation testing this oil resisted elevated heat and oxidation more effectively than a leading conventional ISO 46 fluid in the Aluminum Beaker Oxidation Test conducted April 2012.
Wide temperature operation for year-round mobile equipment
The naturally heat-resistant synthetic base oils maintain a protective viscosity in extreme heat, allowing formation of a strong lubricating film for excellent wear protection. The formula does not contain the waxes inherent to conventional fluids, so it flows more readily in cold temperatures. Bearings, valves, and other components receive almost immediate lubrication at startup, reducing long-term wear and limiting pressure spikes and erratic operation that come from poor cold fluidity. The result is shorter warm-up times for outdoor mobile hydraulic equipment and more consistent response across the seasons.
Anti-wear protection for pumps, motors, and valves
The shear-stable formulation is fortified with the latest zinc-type anti-wear additives and demonstrates excellent wear protection for pumps, motors, valves, and other components. After 608 hours of strenuous pump testing in a Parker Hannifin (Denison) T6H20C Hybrid pump, the piston shoes showed only moderate polishing and trace, random scratches, and the vane pump cam ring exhibited only light polishing and trace scratching. The Four-Ball Wear Test (ASTM D4172, 40 kg, 1,200 rpm, 75 C, 60 minutes) returned a 0.42 mm wear scar diameter, and the KRL Shear Test confirmed stay-in-grade performance with no more than 15 percent kinematic viscosity loss.
OEM and industry specifications
The ISO 32 grade meets the stringent viscosity-retention requirements of Parker Hannifin (Denison) HF-0, HF-1, and HF-2, and is suitable for use in systems that call for Vickers I-286-S, Vickers M-2950-S, DIN 51524 Parts 2 and 3, or Cincinnati Milacron P-68. It is approved for use in systems with bronze metallurgy, with copper strip corrosion at 1A in the ASTM D130 test (100 C, 3 hours).
Foam control and water separation
Anti-foam performance in the ASTM D892 sequences I, II, and III returns 0/0, 10/0, and 0/0, helping the fluid reject entrained air that would otherwise cause cavitation and erratic actuator movement. Demulsibility in the ASTM D1401 test reaches the 40-40-0 split in 25 minutes, allowing condensation and ingressed water to separate quickly rather than circulating through the system. The seal test on SRE-NBR1 elastomer at 100 C for 168 hours returns a Pass, and dielectric strength registers 45 kVAC.
Maximizes fluid life and energy efficiency
The combination of varnish control, oxidation resistance, and shear stability is designed to keep the fluid in service longer and to limit the deposits and viscosity drift that drag system efficiency down. The result is longer fluid life, fewer top-ups, and steadier hydraulic response across the duty cycle.
Recommended applications and service intervals
This grade is built for high- and low-pressure gear, vane, and piston hydraulic systems in both stationary and mobile equipment, including those with bronze metallurgy. The high viscosity index makes it especially well suited to outdoor mobile equipment that sees a wide ambient temperature swing, such as skid-steer loaders, wood splitters, and year-round construction or agricultural hydraulics. Use it in any application that requires one of the following specifications.

Cincinnati Milacron P-68.
Confirm the required ISO viscosity grade and OEM specification with the equipment manufacturer before topping off or converting a system. Drain intervals depend on operating temperature, contamination control, and equipment manufacturer guidance, so trend the fluid with periodic oil analysis rather than guessing. Use clean transfer equipment, change the hydraulic filter on the manufacturer's schedule, and avoid mixing this synthetic fluid with conventional hydraulic oils, which can shorten fluid life and reduce the cleanliness benefits of the formulation. Aftermarket hydraulic additives are not recommended for use with AMSOIL synthetic hydraulic oils.

ISO 32 is an ISO viscosity grade defined under ASTM D2422 and based on kinematic viscosity at 40 C. An ISO 32 fluid sits in the lighter, low-viscosity end of the industrial hydraulic range and is commonly specified for indoor stationary systems and many outdoor mobile machines that need easy startup. Synthetic Multi-Viscosity Hydraulic Oil meets the ISO 32 grade with a kinematic viscosity of 31.8 cSt at 40 C and 6.5 cSt at 100 C.
Is this multi-viscosity ISO 32 the same as an AW 32 hydraulic oil?
Both are anti-wear ISO 32 hydraulic oils, but they are not identical products. A standard AW 32 is a single-grade anti-wear fluid built for stable indoor temperatures. The HVH multi-viscosity grade is a high viscosity-index ISO 32 anti-wear fluid (VI 165) designed for mobile and outdoor equipment that sees a wider ambient temperature range. Use the multi-viscosity grade when seasonal temperature swings put a single-grade AW 32 outside its working range.
What viscosity index does the ISO 32 grade carry?
The ISO 32 grade has a viscosity index of 165 (ASTM D2270), which is the high-VI behavior that lets the same fluid stay protective at hot operating temperatures and still flow on a cold startup.
Can ISO 32 and ISO 46 hydraulic oil be mixed?
Mixing different ISO grades, or mixing this synthetic fluid with a conventional hydraulic oil, is not recommended. Mixing changes the operating viscosity, dilutes the additive system, and shortens fluid life. Drain and refill with a single product that matches the equipment manufacturer's required ISO grade and specification.
