AMSOIL 0W-30 MS 100% Synthetic European Motor Oil

AMSOIL 0W-30 MS 100% Synthetic European Motor Oil is a fully synthetic mid-SAPS (sulfated ash, phosphorus, sulfur) formulation built for European gasoline and diesel engines that call for an SAE 0W-30 viscosity grade. The mid-SAPS chemistry meets both the ACEA C2 and C3 European sequences and supports modern aftertreatment hardware, including diesel particulate filters, gasoline particulate filters, and three-way catalysts. The grade is the right choice for owners of late-model BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, and Porsche vehicles that specify a 0W-30 with BMW Longlife-01 FE, MB 229.31, 229.51, 229.52, VW and Audi 504.00 and 507.00, or Porsche C30 approval.

Mid-SAPS chemistry for modern aftertreatment

Modern European emissions hardware is sensitive to the ash, phosphorus, and sulfur left behind by motor oil. The 0W-30 MS formulation carries a precisely balanced mid-SAPS additive package compatible with diesel particulate filters, gasoline particulate filters, and three-way catalysts, and is approved against the ACEA C2 and C3 European sequences used to qualify oils for engines fitted with advanced exhaust treatment. The same chemistry meets API SP, SN PLUS, and SN service categories for current and earlier gasoline engines that call for an SAE 0W-30, so the oil covers both the European emissions side and the API service-fill side of a mixed-fleet garage.

OEM approvals across BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, VW, and Porsche

0W-30 MS carries factory approvals for BMW Longlife-01 FE, Mercedes-Benz 229.31, 229.51, and 229.52, VW and Audi 504.00 and 507.00, and Porsche C30. These approvals cover BMW gasoline engines that call for a fuel-economy longlife oil, Mercedes-Benz gasoline and diesel passenger cars with DPF and SCR aftertreatment, VW Group long-life common-rail and Pumpe-Düse diesels that require 507.00, and Porsche turbocharged engines that specify the C30 mid-SAPS spec. The owner manual should list one of these named approvals, or call for an SAE 0W-30 ACEA C2 or C3 oil, before this grade is used.

Cold-start protection in subzero conditions

Cold cranking governs how quickly oil reaches bearings, cam surfaces, and turbocharger bushings during a winter start. With a CCS viscosity of 5,879 cP at -35 C (ASTM D5293) and a pour point of -49 C (ASTM D97), 0W-30 MS pumps and circulates rapidly at extreme low temperatures so the engine reaches full lubrication faster after a cold start. Once at operating temperature, the formulation holds an HTHS viscosity of 3.5 cP at 150 C (ASTM D5481), the higher protection class required by ACEA C3 for European engines that demand robust film strength under load and over long drain intervals.

Turbocharger and DPF-friendly thermal stability

Turbocharger bearings see some of the harshest conditions in a modern engine, with brief soak temperatures that can break down weaker oils into deposits. The 0W-30 MS robust composition is thermally stable, resists deposit formation in the turbo cartridge, and helps cool the turbocharger between heat cycles. A NOACK volatility of 8.6 percent by weight loss (ASTM D5800) keeps the lightest fractions of the oil in the sump rather than venting into the intake and aftertreatment, which supports both oil consumption and particulate filter cleanliness across the drain.

Sludge and varnish control for long European drains

Excellent oxidation stability, heat resistance, and detergency help keep ring lands, oil galleries, and the valvetrain clean across the extended service intervals European vehicles routinely run. The formulation is specifically designed to prevent sludge and varnish deposits, reduce oil consumption, and support long engine life under the higher operating temperatures common to direct-injection turbocharged engines. A Total Base Number of 8.4 (ASTM D2896) carries reserve alkalinity to neutralize acidic combustion byproducts through a long European drain interval.

Recommended applications and service intervals

0W-30 MS is intended for European gasoline, diesel, and hybrid passenger cars and light trucks that specifically require an SAE 0W-30 viscosity meeting the OEM and industry sequences listed below. A vehicle owner manual should list ACEA C2, ACEA C3, or one of the named OEM approvals before this oil is used.

0W-30 MS is compatible with other synthetic and conventional motor oils. Mixing shortens oil life and reduces performance benefits, and extended drain intervals are not supported when oils have been mixed. Aftermarket oil additives are not recommended for use with AMSOIL synthetic motor oils. AMSOIL Oil Filters are designed for extended service and are the recommended pairing for European drain intervals.

Great products use in everything I own

  • 20 Years

For 20 years I am using the Amsoil and will mot use anything else. I owned many (more than 20) different cars during these years and always used Amsoil. My mechanic wouldn’t believe I was really planning to change the oil every 10 or 25 k miles, but after changing it couple of times and seeing the condition of the used oil and my engine now he is not surprised anymore .

Frequently asked questions

What does MS mean in 0W-30 MS European motor oil?

MS stands for mid SAPS, the controlled level of sulfated ash, phosphorus, and sulfur called for by the ACEA C2 and C3 European sequences. A mid-SAPS oil limits ash deposition in diesel particulate filters and protects three-way catalysts on modern European emissions systems while still carrying enough additive content for robust wear protection and detergency performance.

Which OEM specifications does AMSOIL 0W-30 MS meet?

0W-30 MS meets API SP, SN PLUS, and SN, ACEA C2 and C3, BMW Longlife-01 FE, MB 229.31, 229.51, and 229.52, VW and Audi 504.00 and 507.00, and Porsche C30. The owner manual should list one of these specifications, or call for an SAE 0W-30 ACEA C2 or C3 oil, before this grade is used.

Is 0W-30 MS approved for BMW Longlife engines?

0W-30 MS is approved against BMW Longlife-01 FE, the fuel-economy variant of the BMW Longlife specification used on gasoline engines that call for a 0W-30 fuel-saving oil. Vehicles that specifically require BMW Longlife-04 should use a 5W-30 grade carrying that approval rather than this 0W-30.

Is 0W-30 MS approved for Mercedes-Benz 229.51 and 229.52 vehicles?

Yes. 0W-30 MS carries Mercedes-Benz 229.31, 229.51, and 229.52 approvals, covering modern gasoline and diesel passenger cars with diesel particulate filters and other sensitive aftertreatment components.

Is 0W-30 MS the correct oil for VW or Audi diesels requiring 507.00?

Yes. 0W-30 MS meets VW and Audi 504.00 and 507.00 long-life specifications, the approvals required for late-model VW Group gasoline engines and common-rail and Pumpe-Düse diesel engines with DPF aftertreatment that call for the long-life 0W-30 grade.

How does 0W-30 MS compare to a 5W-30 European oil?

0W-30 MS shares the mid-SAPS chemistry class with a typical 5W-30 LS or C3 European oil, but the 0W winter rating thins less at startup and reaches operating viscosity faster in cold conditions. The right grade is the one specified in the owner manual; substituting 0W-30 in an engine that calls for 5W-30, or the other way around, is not recommended.

How long can 0W-30 MS stay in service?

0W-30 MS is approved for the extended drain intervals established by the vehicle manufacturer. Follow the interval published in the owner manual or indicated by the vehicle service-life monitor, and replace the oil filter at every oil change. AMSOIL Oil Filters are recommended for European drain intervals.
