AMSOIL 5W-30 LS 100% Synthetic European Motor Oil is a fully synthetic, low-SAPS (sulfated ash, phosphorus, sulfur) C3 formulation built for European gasoline and diesel engines that call for an SAE 5W-30 grade. The ACEA C3 chemistry protects diesel particulate filters and three-way catalysts while supporting the long drain intervals established by European automakers. The grade is the right choice for owners of late-model BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Audi, Volkswagen, and other European vehicles that specify a low-SAPS 5W-30.
Aftertreatment-friendly low-SAPS chemistry
Modern European emissions hardware, including diesel particulate filters and three-way catalysts, is sensitive to ash, phosphorus, and sulfur left behind by motor oil. Turbocharger protection at high heat and low temperatures
Turbocharger bearings see some of the harshest conditions in a modern engine, with brief soak temperatures that can break down weaker oils into deposits. The 5W-30 LS robust composition is thermally stable, resists deposit formation in the turbo cartridge, and helps cool the turbocharger between heat cycles. A pour point of -46 C also protects the turbocharger against oil starvation in subzero conditions and supports a rapid return to appropriate oil pressure at startup.

Excellent oxidation stability, heat resistance, and detergency help keep ring lands, oil galleries, and the valvetrain clean across the extended service intervals European vehicles routinely run. All-season cold-start flow
Cold cranking governs how quickly oil reaches bearings and cam surfaces during a winter start. With a CCS viscosity of 5,478 cP at -30 C and a pour point of -46 C, 5W-30 LS pumps and circulates quickly in cold temperatures so the engine reaches full lubrication faster after a cold start. Once at operating temperature, the formulation holds an HTHS viscosity of 3.6 cP, the higher-HTHS protection class required by ACEA C3 for European engines that demand robust film strength under load.
