AMSOIL Extended-Life 10W-30 100% Synthetic Motor Oil
AMSOIL Extended-Life 10W-30 100% Synthetic Motor Oil is a fully synthetic gasoline engine oil engineered for road warriors who want long oil life without giving up wear, deposit, and turbocharger protection. The XLT formula sits in the Extended-Life (XL) family between AMSOIL OE and Signature Series, supporting drain coverage up to 20,000 miles or one year in normal service, and meets API SQ (Resource Conserving), API SP, and API SN Plus alongside ILSAC GF-7A, GF-6A, and GF-5. It is the right pick for late-model gasoline cars, trucks, and SUVs that specify an SAE 10W-30 grade and benefit from extended-drain coverage.
Resists oil breakdown and viscosity loss
Extended-Life 10W-30 maintains its fluidity under the extreme heat that builds during long highway runs, towing, and stop-and-go service. Some oils break down and significantly increase in viscosity after extended periods of high-temperature operation, which can drive excessive oil consumption, engine deposits, accelerated wear, and difficult cold starts. The synthetic base oils and shear-stable viscosity system in XLT resist that breakdown, holding kinematic viscosity at 10.7 cSt at 100 C (ASTM D445) and HTHS viscosity at 3.3 cP at 150 C (ASTM D5481) so the oil keeps a strong protective film between moving parts.
LSPI defense for direct-injection gasoline engines
Most modern engines use gasoline direct-injection, often paired with a turbocharger, and that combination raises the risk of low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI). LSPI is the spontaneous ignition of the fuel and air mixture before the spark fires, and it can shatter pistons and connecting rods. Extended-Life 10W-30 is built with an advanced detergent chemistry proven to guard against LSPI in the engine tests required by API SP and ILSAC GF-6A, the same family of LSPI screens carried forward in API SQ and ILSAC GF-7A.
Boosted detergents and acid-neutralizing protection
Long drain intervals only work when an oil can keep neutralizing acids and capturing soot and combustion byproducts the entire time. Extended-Life 10W-30 carries a boosted additive package with detergents and dispersants that resist sludge, varnish, and carbon deposits, supported by a Total Base Number of 10.7 (ASTM D2896) for sustained acid-neutralizing reserve. The result is an oil that keeps ring grooves, pistons, and oil passages cleaner across the full extended interval and helps preserve compression and oil flow over the life of the engine.
Cold-start flow, low volatility, and turbo protection
The 10W winter rating describes how easily the oil pumps to bearings and cam surfaces during a cold start. Extended-Life 10W-30 posts a CCS viscosity of 5263 cP at -25 C (ASTM D5293) and a pour point of -40 C (ASTM D97), so oil reaches critical contact zones quickly when the engine first fires. Low NOACK volatility of 5.3 percent weight loss (ASTM D5800) reduces oil burn-off in the hot zones around turbocharger bearings, which limits deposit-forming residue and helps keep make-up oil consumption under control between changes.
Compatibility, mixing, and aftermarket additives
Extended-Life 10W-30 is compatible with conventional and other synthetic motor oils, so a top-up with a different oil during the drain interval will not damage the engine. Mixing other oils with AMSOIL motor oils, however, shortens the oil's life expectancy and reduces its performance benefits, and extended drain intervals are not supported when oils have been mixed. Aftermarket oil additives are not recommended for use with AMSOIL Extended-Life Synthetic Motor Oil. The XLT formula is built to perform on its own additive system without supplemental products.
Recommended applications and service intervals
Extended-Life 10W-30 is built for gasoline engines that require any of the following specifications: API SQ (Resource Conserving), API SP, and API SN Plus; ILSAC GF-7A, GF-6A, and GF-5; ACEA A1/B1 and A5/B5; Chrysler MS-6395; Ford WSS-M2C205-A; and GM 4718M and 6094M. Confirm the right grade and service category for the vehicle with the AMSOIL Vehicle Lookup Guide.
Normal service: up to 20,000 miles (32,000 km) or one year, whichever comes first, in personal vehicles not operating under severe service.
Severe service: up to 12,000 miles (20,000 km) or one year, whichever comes first. Severe service includes commercial or fleet vehicles, excessive idling, and frequent towing, hauling, plowing, or driving in dusty conditions.
Modified engines (non-stock), racing vehicles, and engines using alternative fuels such as E85, CNG, or propane are excluded from extended drain interval recommendations.
Outside the United States and Canada, change at the vehicle manufacturer's recommended drain interval.
AMSOIL Oil Filters are designed for extended drain intervals. With other-brand filters, the interval should not exceed 12,000 miles (20,000 km) or one year unless the vehicle manufacturer recommends a longer interval. The filter should always be changed when the oil is changed, and oil level should be checked regularly. Supplemental aftermarket additives are not recommended.

Simply the best.
This is only for the people who are planning to use Amsoil for the first time. The people who used it before don’t need to read any reviews.. they know it. This is the best oil by far and it does exactly as the company says. I am using Amsoil for 20 years now on all my cars and never ever had any issues changing my oil every 10 or 25 k miles as recommended.

Show me any better
I am using only Amsoil oil for the last 20 years and don’t know (or care) if there is anything better or even close to be equal to it.
Extended-Life 10W-30 (product code XLT) is a 100 percent synthetic SAE 10W-30 gasoline motor oil in the Extended-Life family. It sits between AMSOIL OE and AMSOIL Signature Series and is designed for road warriors who want longer oil change intervals together with strong wear, LSPI, and turbo protection.
Is Extended-Life 10W-30 a true full synthetic motor oil?
Yes. XLT is a 100 percent synthetic motor oil. The formulation pairs synthetic base oils with a boosted additive package that is built to stay stable through long drain intervals, high engine temperatures, and the demands of turbocharged and direct-injection gasoline engines.
Which industry specifications does Extended-Life 10W-30 meet?
The XLT 10W-30 grade meets API SQ (Resource Conserving), API SP, and API SN Plus; ILSAC GF-7A, GF-6A, and GF-5; ACEA A1/B1 and A5/B5; Chrysler MS-6395; Ford WSS-M2C205-A; and GM 4718M and 6094M. The owner manual should list one of these service categories or OEM specifications before the oil is used.
How long can Extended-Life 10W-30 stay in service?
Extended-Life 10W-30 supports drain intervals up to 20,000 miles (32,000 km) or one year, whichever comes first, in personal vehicles inside the United States and Canada that are not operating under severe service. Severe service is limited to 12,000 miles (20,000 km) or one year. AMSOIL Oil Filters are recommended to take full advantage of the extended interval.
How is Extended-Life different from Signature Series?
Extended-Life is the mid-tier XL gasoline motor oil family. Signature Series is the top-tier formulation with longer maximum drain coverage. Extended-Life 10W-30 targets drivers who want a substantial step up from a conventional or short-drain synthetic oil at a lower price point than Signature Series, while still keeping LSPI defense, turbocharger protection, and the AMSOIL Limited Warranty.
Can Extended-Life 10W-30 be mixed with conventional or other synthetic oils?
Extended-Life 10W-30 is compatible with conventional and other synthetic motor oils, so a top-up with a different oil during the drain interval is not harmful. Mixing other oils, however, shortens the oil's life expectancy and reduces performance benefits, and extended drain intervals are not supported when oils have been mixed. Aftermarket oil additives are not recommended for use with Extended-Life Synthetic Motor Oil.
Will using AMSOIL Extended-Life void a new vehicle warranty?
No. Using AMSOIL synthetic lubricants or practicing extended drain intervals does not void a new vehicle or equipment manufacturer warranty, and all AMSOIL lubricants and filters are covered by the AMSOIL Limited Warranty.
