AMSOIL Extended-Life 5W-30 100% Synthetic Motor Oil

AMSOIL Extended-Life 5W-30 100% Synthetic Motor Oil is a premium gasoline engine oil engineered for late-model passenger cars and light trucks that specify an SAE 5W-30 grade and want longer time between oil changes. The XLF formulation supports up to 20,000 miles of guaranteed drain coverage in normal service and meets API SQ (Resource Conserving), SP, and SN Plus, ILSAC GF-7A, GF-6A, and GF-5, GM dexos1 Gen 3, ACEA A1/B1 and A5/B5, Chrysler MS-6395, Ford WSS-M2C929-A, WSS-M2C946-A, WSS-M2C946-B1, WSS-M2C961-A1, and WSS-M2C971-A1, and Honda HTO-06. It is built for road warriors, daily commuters, and small fleets that want premium synthetic protection paired with a longer service interval than AMSOIL OE Motor Oil delivers.

Extended drain protection up to 20,000 miles

The XLF 5W-30 grade carries 20,000 miles of guaranteed drain coverage in normal service for personal vehicles not operating under severe duty, allowing drivers to replace short three-month interval changes with one or two oil services per year. The boosted additive package and synthetic base oils are engineered to stay in grade through the long interval so the oil continues to protect bearings, cams, rings, and turbocharger surfaces from the first mile to the last.

Resists oil breakdown at high temperatures

Some oils break down and increase significantly in viscosity after extended periods of high-temperature operation, which can cause excessive oil consumption, engine deposits, accelerated wear, and difficult cold starts. The XLF formula resists oil breakdown so viscosity stays inside its 5W-30 window through the long drain. The XLF grade posts a kinematic viscosity of 11.1 cSt at 100 C and a viscosity index of 166 in ASTM D445 and ASTM D2270 testing, holding film thickness as engine temperature climbs during freeway service, towing, or summer city traffic.

LSPI protection for turbocharged direct-injection engines

Low-speed pre-ignition is the spontaneous ignition of the fuel and air mixture before the spark fires, and it is most damaging in turbocharged gasoline direct-injection engines, where an LSPI event can crack pistons or break connecting rods. Extended-Life 5W-30 features a unique chemistry built to protect engines against the harmful effects of LSPI and is qualified against GM dexos1 Gen 3, ILSAC GF-7A, and ILSAC GF-6A, the modern service categories that include the LSPI engine test. The same detergent and additive system also keeps ring lands and piston crowns clean across direct-injection deposit cycles.

Cleaner engines through long drains

Extended-Life 5W-30 carries 37 percent more cleaning power than AMSOIL OE Synthetic Motor Oil, based on AMSOIL testing of the two formulations. The boosted additive package neutralizes acids, resists sludge, corrosion, and carbon deposits, and is supported by a Total Base Number of 10.7 in ASTM D2896 testing. That alkalinity reserve is what lets a single charge of XLF stay clean through 20,000 miles of fuel dilution, blow-by, and condensation.

Cold-start flow and viscosity control

Cold cranking behavior and pour point determine how quickly oil reaches bearings and cam surfaces during a winter start. Extended-Life 5W-30 records a CCS viscosity of 5329 cP at minus 30 C in ASTM D5293, a pour point of minus 41 C in ASTM D97, and an HTHS viscosity of 3.3 cP at 150 C in ASTM D5481. The same charge holds an in-grade NOACK volatility of 9.0 percent weight loss in ASTM D5800, which limits oil consumption and reduces deposits formed when light fractions evaporate at high temperature.

Recommended applications and service intervals

Extended-Life 5W-30 is built for gasoline engines that require any of the following specifications: API SQ (Resource Conserving), SP, and SN Plus, ILSAC GF-7A, GF-6A, and GF-5, GM dexos1 Gen 3 (which supersedes dexos1 Gen 2, 4718M, 6094M, and LL-A-025), ACEA A1/B1 and A5/B5, Chrysler MS-6395, Ford WSS-M2C929-A, WSS-M2C946-A, WSS-M2C946-B1, WSS-M2C961-A1, and WSS-M2C971-A1, and Honda HTO-06. Confirm the required viscosity and service category for the vehicle with the AMSOIL Vehicle Lookup Guide before placing an order.

AMSOIL Oil Filters are designed for extended drain intervals. With other-brand filters, the interval should not exceed 12,000 miles (19,300 km) or one year unless the vehicle manufacturer recommends a longer interval, and the filter should be changed each time the oil is changed. Extended-Life 5W-30 is compatible with conventional and other synthetic motor oils, but mixing shortens oil life and reduces performance benefits, and extended drain intervals are not supported when oils have been mixed. Aftermarket oil additives are not recommended for use with this oil.

  • Simply the best.

This is only for the people who are planning to use Amsoil for the first time. The people who used it before don’t need to read any reviews.. they know it. This is the best oil by far and it does exactly as the company says. I am using Amsoil for 20 years now on all my cars and never ever had any issues changing my oil every 10 or 25 k miles as recommended.
