AMSOIL INTERCEPTOR® 100% Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil

INTERCEPTOR is a 100 percent synthetic, low-smoke premium powersports two-stroke oil formulated for snowmobiles, two-stroke motorcycles, ATVs, and personal watercraft that call for an API TC or JASO FD lubricant. The chemistry targets the lean fuel-to-oil ratios used by modern direct-injection and electronic-injection two-stroke engines, including Rotax E-TEC, Arctic Cat C-TEC2, and oil-injected Polaris designs, while remaining suitable as a 50:1 premix in carbureted equipment.

Anti-scuff and anti-wear protection

INTERCEPTOR is built on high-molecular-weight synthetic base oils with high flash points that resist burn-off, so a larger fraction of the dose survives the combustion event and remains available to lubricate pistons, rings, and bearings. The film strength and lubricity inhibit metal-to-metal contact under the heat and load that lean-burning DFI and E-TEC engines generate at sustained wide-open throttle.

In a field trial spanning 1,617 miles (2,602 km) of mountain abuse aboard a 2019 Polaris RMK 850 rental sled at Grizzly Lodge in the Canadian Rockies, INTERCEPTOR kept pistons virtually carbon-free with nearly all factory coating intact at teardown.

Exhaust power valve and deposit control

Two-stroke engines lose top-end power when carbon glazes ring lands or jams exhaust power valves in a fixed position. INTERCEPTOR is thermally stable by design and fortified with high-temperature detergency and dispersancy additives that keep ring lands, exhaust ports, and power valve actuators clean. In the same Polaris RMK 850 field trial, INTERCEPTOR completely prevented exhaust power valve sticking, allowing the valves to move freely after a full season of abuse.

Cold-start fluidity in sub-zero service

A -63°F (-53°C) pour point keeps INTERCEPTOR pumping through injector lines and reaching cylinder walls before the first hard pull on the throttle, which is the most vulnerable moment for a cold two-stroke. The oil also meets the SAE J1536 Fluidity and Miscibility Grade 4 Arctic Climate threshold, with a 17,000 cP maximum at the test temperature, so injector-pump output and gas-to-oil mixing stay consistent on the coldest morning of the season.

Clean burn, low smoke, low odor

The synthetic chemistry burns cleanly, which limits the visible smoke and strong odor associated with conventional petroleum two-stroke oils. Riders moving in groups, in tunnels, or in tight tree riding benefit from the reduced exhaust signature, and the same clean burn helps prevent spark plug fouling and ring-land deposit buildup over long high-output runs.

Single oil for injection and premix service

INTERCEPTOR is approved as an injector oil at the OEM-specified pump setting or as a 50:1 premix at 2.6 ounces per U.S. gallon of gasoline. A single-formula approach simplifies inventory for owners with a mixed garage of DFI, EFI, and older carbureted two-stroke equipment that still calls for an API TC or JASO FD lubricant.

Recommended applications and service intervals

INTERCEPTOR is recommended for two-stroke snowmobiles, motorcycles, ATVs, and personal watercraft where API TC or JASO FD oils are specified, including Polaris, BRP/Ski-Doo Rotax E-TEC engines, Arctic Cat C-TEC2 engines, and two-stroke models from Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Suzuki. It is approved for direct-fuel-injection, electronic-fuel-injection, and carbureted designs.

INTERCEPTOR is compatible with most conventional and synthetic two-stroke oils; for best performance, mixing oils should be minimized. Aftermarket fuel additives or oil supplements are not required, and any add-in chemistry can interfere with the balanced detergent and dispersant system already in the oil.

  • My new gold-standard

Better than the competition. Less burn-off. More power. Your 2T enduro deserves this.

  • Love it

I have used Amsoil in my truck for awhile, so it only made sense to use it in my snowmobile as well. This was my first year using, so I don’t have a ton of miles or time, but what I do it’s been a great product. Shipping and everything else to do with ordering this was amazing as well. And the price point was well lower than any other product that probably lacks in quality compared to Amsoil.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best 2-stroke oil for a modern snowmobile?

INTERCEPTOR is engineered specifically for current-generation two-stroke snowmobile engines, including Rotax E-TEC, Arctic Cat C-TEC2, and oil-injected Polaris designs. The 100 percent synthetic formula is built around the lean fuel-to-oil ratios these engines run and meets the API TC and JASO FD service categories the OEMs specify.

Can INTERCEPTOR be used as a 50:1 premix?

Yes. INTERCEPTOR is approved as both an injector oil and a 50:1 premix at 2.6 ounces per U.S. gallon of gasoline. Owners running both injected sleds and older carbureted two-stroke equipment can stock a single oil and use it across both fueling methods.

Is INTERCEPTOR approved for direct-injection E-TEC and C-TEC2 engines?

Yes. INTERCEPTOR is approved for direct-fuel-injection (DFI), electronic-fuel-injection (EFI), and carbureted two-stroke engines from Polaris, BRP/Ski-Doo (Rotax E-TEC), Arctic Cat (C-TEC2), Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Suzuki where an API TC or JASO FD oil is specified.

Can INTERCEPTOR be mixed with another two-stroke oil already in the injector reservoir?

INTERCEPTOR is compatible with most conventional and synthetic two-stroke oils, so topping off a partially filled injector reservoir is not an immediate concern. For best performance over the long run, mixing should be minimized and a single oil run consistently from one fill to the next.

Should INTERCEPTOR be used in a TC-W3 marine outboard?

No. Marine outboards calling for a TC-W3 oil should use AMSOIL HP Marine Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil, which is the dedicated TC-W3 product. INTERCEPTOR is the premium snowmobile and powersports formula and is not positioned for TC-W3 marine service.

Does using INTERCEPTOR void a new snowmobile factory warranty?

No. Using AMSOIL synthetic lubricants does not void a new vehicle or equipment manufacturer warranty, and all AMSOIL lubricants and filters are covered by the AMSOIL Limited Warranty. The Runs on Freedom® Limited Snowmobile Warranty further covers engine repairs for up to two years, 5,000 miles, or 8,000 km when INTERCEPTOR is used exclusively in a current-model-year or newer sled.

How does INTERCEPTOR fit alongside DOMINATOR, SABER, and HP Marine?

INTERCEPTOR is positioned as the premium oil for high-performance two-stroke snowmobiles and powersports engines that require API TC or JASO FD service. Dedicated products in the DOMINATOR, SABER, and HP Marine families cover sustained high-rpm racing duty, premix-focused handheld power equipment, and TC-W3 marine outboards respectively. Match the correct two-stroke oil to a specific sled or piece of equipment with the AMSOIL Vehicle Lookup Guide.
