AMSOIL SABER® Professional 100% Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil
SABER Professional is a 100% synthetic, low-smoke premix 2-stroke oil engineered for handheld landscape and forestry equipment that calls for JASO FD, ISO-L-EGD, or API TC service. The formula is designed for landscapers, arborists, contractors, and homeowners running chainsaws, string trimmers, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, brush cutters, and other 2-cycle equipment from STIHL, Husqvarna, ECHO, Toro, Shindaiwa, Craftsman, STIHL 4-Mix, and Hybrid 4 Shindaiwa platforms.
Premium synthetic base stocks for cleaner combustion
SABER Professional uses high-quality synthetic base oils that burn more cleanly than conventional and lower-tier synthetic 2-stroke chemistries. Cleaner combustion translates directly into less carbon at the piston rings, exhaust ports, and spark arrestor screen, the three failure points that drag service life out of small two-cycle engines and force premature rebuilds.
96 percent carbon-free in spark arrestor testing
Equipment running SABER Professional remained 96 percent carbon-free based on spark arrestor testing. Spark arrestor screens that stay clear keep exhaust gas flowing freely, which preserves throttle response, idle stability, and peak two-stroke power output across long workdays.
Verified at 100:1 against a name-brand 50:1 oil
In 300 hours of professional-use testing in ECHO string trimmers, SABER Professional mixed at 100:1 resisted carbon better than ECHO Power Blend XTended Life Universal 2-Stroke Oil mixed at 50:1, even while using half as much oil per gallon of fuel. Exhaust port airflow loss measured 4 percent on the SABER 100:1 trimmer compared with 76 percent on the ECHO Power Blend 50:1 trimmer. Full results are published in the ECHO 100:1 String Trimmer Technical Study (G3470).
Smokeless operation at the SABER Ratio
SABER Professional passes the industry-standard smoke test at conventional rich mix ratios. When mixed at the 100:1 SABER Ratio, smoke is virtually undetectable, a meaningful improvement for crews working enclosed spaces, suburban properties, and customer-facing job sites where bystander exposure to two-stroke exhaust is a daily reality.
Built-in fuel stabilization for seasonal storage
The formula stabilizes fuel during storage, helping prevent gum and varnish buildup that causes hard starts and rough running after equipment sits between seasons. There is no need to dose a separate fuel stabilizer when putting trimmers, blowers, and saws into off-season storage with SABER Professional already mixed in the tank.
Wear, scuff, and ring-stick protection at lean ratios
SABER Professional controls friction and helps prevent wear, plug fouling, ring sticking, and exhaust port blocking, even at the leaner 100:1 SABER Ratio. The result is a single oil that covers conventional 32:1, 40:1, 50:1, and 80:1 specifications and the 100:1 SABER Ratio without switching products on the truck or in the shed.
Recommended applications and service intervals
Use SABER Professional in all two-stroke handheld equipment where JASO FD, ISO-L-EGD, or API TC oils are specified, including STIHL, Husqvarna, ECHO, Toro, Shindaiwa, Craftsman, STIHL 4-Mix, and Hybrid 4 Shindaiwa engines. The oil may be mixed at the conventional ratio printed in the equipment manual or at the 100:1 SABER Ratio, regardless of the ratio specified by the equipment manufacturer. The 100:1 SABER Ratio cuts oil cost per gallon of mixed fuel by 50 percent or more compared with name-brand oils mixed at 50:1, while still delivering full protection.
Conventional mix ratios: 32:1 (4.0 oz. oil per 1 U.S. gallon fuel), 40:1 (3.2 oz.), 50:1 (2.6 oz.), and 80:1 (1.6 oz.).
SABER Ratio: 100:1 (1.3 oz. oil per 1 U.S. gallon fuel) for maximum cost savings and reduced smoke.
Metric: 125 mL, 100 mL, 80 mL, 50 mL, and 40 mL per 4 liters of fuel for 32:1 through 100:1, respectively.
Not intended for water-cooled outboard motors that require an NMMA TC-W3 oil.
Pair SABER Professional with fresh, clean fuel and clean air filters to get the full benefit at lean ratios. SABER Professional is Warranty Secure, keeping the equipment factory warranty intact when used as a high-performance replacement for equipment-manufacturer branded products.

What mix ratio should be used with SABER Professional in a chainsaw or trimmer?
SABER Professional supports any conventional ratio from 32:1 through 80:1, plus the 100:1 SABER Ratio, regardless of the ratio printed in the equipment manual. The 100:1 SABER Ratio (1.3 oz. of oil per 1 U.S. gallon of fuel) is the recommended setting for maximum cost savings and minimum smoke. Crews that prefer to keep matching the manual ratio can mix SABER Professional at 50:1 with no loss of protection.
Is SABER Professional approved for STIHL, Husqvarna, and ECHO equipment?
SABER Professional meets JASO FD, ISO-L-EGD, and API TC, the three handheld two-stroke service categories called out by major manufacturers including STIHL, Husqvarna, ECHO, Toro, Shindaiwa, and Craftsman. The oil is also rated for STIHL 4-Mix and Hybrid 4 Shindaiwa engines. SABER Professional is Warranty Secure, so using it as a replacement for equipment-branded oil keeps the factory warranty intact.
Can SABER Professional be used in a chainsaw and other handheld equipment if it is brand new or being broken in?
Yes. SABER Professional is approved for use throughout the service life of a handheld two-stroke engine, including initial break-in. There is no separate break-in oil required for chainsaws, trimmers, or blowers running on SABER Professional at the manufacturer's specified ratio.
Does SABER Professional include a fuel stabilizer?
Yes. SABER Professional stabilizes fuel during storage, helping prevent fuel-related deterioration and the hard starts that follow seasonal layup. A separate gasoline stabilizer is not required when SABER Professional is already mixed into the gas can or equipment tank.
Is SABER Professional really smokeless?
SABER Professional passes the industry-standard smoke test at the conventional rich mix ratio, and at the 100:1 SABER Ratio the visible exhaust smoke is virtually undetectable. The low-smoke characteristic is driven by the synthetic base stocks burning cleanly at the lean ratio rather than by aftermarket smoke-reducing additives.
Can SABER Professional replace marine TC-W3 outboard oil?
No. SABER Professional is engineered for air-cooled handheld two-stroke equipment that calls for JASO FD, ISO-L-EGD, or API TC. Water-cooled outboard motors that require an NMMA TC-W3 oil should be run on AMSOIL HP Marine Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil or AMSOIL Saber Outboard Synthetic 2-Stroke Oil instead.
How much SABER Professional is in a 1.5 oz. pack and what does it mix?
The 1.5 oz. pack (ATPPK) contains the right dose to mix one U.S. gallon of fuel at slightly richer than the 100:1 SABER Ratio, which is the simplest field-use option for landscape crews carrying gas cans on the truck. Larger 2.6 oz. and 6.4 oz. bottles cover one U.S. gallon at 50:1 and 2.5 U.S. gallons at 50:1, respectively, with quart, gallon, and drum sizes available for shop and commercial use.
