AMSOIL Signature Series Fuel-Efficient 100% Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid (product code ATL) is a low-viscosity synthetic ATF engineered for modern fuel-efficient automatic transmissions that call for Ford MERCON LV or GM DEXRON HP/DEXRON VI fluids. The formulation is built for owners of late-model Ford 6F35, 6F55, and 10R80 transmissions, GM 6L80, 6L90, 9T-50, and 10L80 units, and the wide list of European, Japanese, and Korean automatic transmissions covered by the same low-viscosity service categories. Signature Series ATL pairs extended-drain capability with the friction-durability and cold-flow performance these gearsets require for smooth shifts and long fluid life.
Backed by 180,000-mile severe-service field trial
Signature Series synthetic ATF was proven in a Las Vegas taxi fleet field trial that ran 180,000 severe-service miles in stop-and-go duty under extreme desert heat. After 180,000 miles, the Aluminum Beaker Oxidation Test (ABOT) performed by an independent third-party lab on total acid number (TAN) showed the fluid resisting oxidation longer than required for new fluid to meet the Chrysler ATF+4 specification, based on testing of Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF. The transmission valve body remained clean and virtually sludge-free, and the clutch plates showed only trace discoloration with the highest possible deterioration and wear rating.
Wear protection that exceeds OEM new-fluid limits
Varying speed and load conditions create torque multiplication and extreme stress on gears and bearings. Signature Series synthetic ATF is built with high film strength and premium anti-wear and extreme-pressure additives that resist wear during severe service. In the industry-standard FZG Gear Wear Test, Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF that had been used for 180,000 severe-service miles still achieved a Pass at stage 12, the highest stage of the test, exceeding the Ford MERCON V and Chrysler ATF+4 specifications for new fluid. The Fuel-Efficient grade posts a 0.41 mm Four-Ball Wear scar in ASTM D4172 (40 kg, 75 C, 1,200 rpm, 1 hour).
Thermal stability and clean clutch packs
Modern transmissions add gears and clutch packs and route fluid through narrow passages, all of which raise heat and demand cleaner fluid. Signature Series synthetic ATF carries high concentrations of antioxidants for natural heat resistance and resists the sludge and varnish that clog narrow oil passages and contribute to clutch glazing.
Cold-temperature fluidity for fast shifts
Cold, thick automatic transmission fluid lengthens shift times and reduces fuel economy during winter starts. Signature Series Fuel-Efficient ATF is wax-free and posts a -65 C (-85 F) pour point in ASTM D97 with a Brookfield Viscosity of 7,676 cP at -40 C in ASTM D2983. The result is faster oil movement at startup, sharper cold shift response, and quicker transmission warm-up.
Friction durability for smooth, repeatable shifts
Today's transmissions deliver higher torque through smaller boxes with longer fluid-life recommendations. Signature Series synthetic ATF uses friction-modifier additives that balance clutch-holding capacity (static friction), torque-transfer ability (dynamic friction), and anti-shudder performance in slipping torque-converter clutches. After 180,000 miles in severe service, fluid analysis on Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF showed nearly identical friction properties as new fluid.

Severe service: double the vehicle manufacturer's severe-service drain interval in passenger cars and light trucks. Severe conditions include heavy towing, hauling, plowing, frequent stop-and-go duty, commercial fleet use, and high-temperature operation.
Outside the United States and Canada: follow the vehicle manufacturer's recommended drain interval.
Pair Signature Series Fuel-Efficient ATF with the AMSOIL transmission filter listed for the application and torque the pan to the manufacturer specification. Signature Series ATL is compatible with other conventional and synthetic ATFs, but mixing shortens fluid life and is not supported under the extended drain interval. Aftermarket additives are not recommended in the transmission with this fluid.

GMC Transmission
Driving a GMC I am always aware that the transmission is an issue. But my mind is put to ease using Amsoil. My transmission run 10 degrees cooler than it used too even pulling a trailer since I switched to Amsoil.

Is Signature Series Fuel-Efficient ATF a true 100 percent synthetic?
Yes. Signature Series Fuel-Efficient Automatic Transmission Fluid is a 100 percent synthetic ATF. The base oil and additive system are engineered to resist oxidation, hold viscosity, and protect friction surfaces across the extended-drain service window.
Can Signature Series ATL replace DEXRON HP, DEXRON VI, or DEXRON III?
Signature Series Fuel-Efficient Synthetic ATF meets the GM DEXRON HP and DEXRON VI specifications and is backward compatible with older GM transmissions that were originally filled with DEXRON III, since the DEXRON VI specification supersedes the obsolete DEXRON III.
