AMSOIL Signature Series Multi-Vehicle 100% Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid

Signature Series Multi-Vehicle 100% Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid is a top-tier multi-vehicle ATF built for hard-working passenger cars, SUVs, trucks, and vans that tow, haul and operate in severe service. Master product code ATFPK-EA covers a single multi-vehicle viscosity, formulated to meet a broad list of legacy OEM specifications, and rated to support double the vehicle manufacturer's severe-service drain interval in passenger cars and light trucks.

Reserve protection against heat after 180,000 severe-service miles

To demonstrate severe-service performance, Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF was installed in Las Vegas taxi cabs running stop-and-go cycles, loaded with passengers and cargo, in extreme desert ambient temperatures. After 180,000 miles, an independent third-party lab ran the Aluminum Beaker Oxidation Test (ABOT), the industry-standardized total acid number (TAN) procedure used to gauge oxidation resistance and predicted service life. The used Signature Series fluid resisted oxidation longer than the Chrysler ATF+4 specification requires of new fluid. The valve body was clean and virtually sludge-free, and the clutch plates showed only trace discoloration, earning a "good" rating, the highest available, for deterioration and wear.

Protects against thermal breakdown

Elevated temperatures are the leading cause of automatic transmission fluid failure. Signature Series Synthetic ATF is formulated with high concentrations of antioxidants that resist sludge and varnish deposits in narrow valve-body passages and on clutch surfaces, where deposits drive clutch glazing and harsh shifts. After 180,000 severe-service miles in the Las Vegas taxi field trial, fluid analysis confirmed the used Signature Series ATF still contained 83 percent of its original oxidation inhibitors, demonstrating long-lasting resistance to thermal breakdown.

Outstanding wear protection

Towing, hauling and varying torque loads multiply stress on gears, bearings, and planetary sets. Signature Series Synthetic ATF is built with high film strength and premium anti-wear and extreme-pressure additives. In the industry-standard FZG Gear Wear Test, the fluid that had already been run for 180,000 severe-service miles still achieved a "Pass" at stage 12, the highest stage of the test, exceeding what new fluid is required to deliver against the Ford MERCON V and Chrysler ATF+4 specifications.

Cold-temperature fluidity

Cold, thick automatic transmission fluid lengthens shift times, reduces fuel economy, and adds wear during warm-up. Signature Series Synthetic ATF is wax-free and delivers strong cold-flow performance, with a pour point of -53 C (-63 F) and a Brookfield viscosity of 9,755 cP at -40 C. The result is improved shift response, faster transmission warm-up and better cold-weather efficiency in northern climates and high-elevation operation.

Friction durability and clean shift feel

Modern automatics are smaller, run hotter and must transmit more horsepower and torque while shifting smoothly across longer service intervals. Signature Series Synthetic ATF is dosed with friction modifiers tuned for clutch-holding capacity (static friction), torque transfer (dynamic friction) and anti-shudder behavior in slipping torque-converter clutch (TCC) applications. After 180,000 severe-service miles, used-fluid analysis showed friction properties nearly identical to new fluid.

Broad multi-vehicle coverage

One fluid covers a long list of legacy automatic transmission, hydraulic and power-steering specifications, including Allison C-4 and TES-389; BMW LA 2634 and LT 71141; Chrysler ATF+4 and MOPAR ASRC; Ford MERCON and MERCON V; GM DEXRON II, DEXRON III, and AutoTrak II; Honda/Acura ATF-Z1; Hyundai/Kia SP-II, SP-III, and Red-1; Mercedes-Benz 236.1 through 236.11; Mitsubishi SP-II, SP-III, and ATF-J2; Nissan Matic-D, Matic-J, Matic-K and 402; Subaru ATF and ATF-HP; Toyota Type T through T-IV; and ZF TE-ML 03D, 04D, 05L, 09, 11A/B, 14A/B/C, 16L/M, 17C, 20B/C and 21L. Vehicles calling for Toyota WS, Honda DW-1, Ford MERCON LV, GM DEXRON VI or ZF Lifeguard 8 / 9 should be filled with Signature Series Fuel-Efficient Synthetic ATF instead.

Recommended applications and service intervals

Use Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF in passenger cars, SUVs, light trucks, vans and commercial vehicles whose automatic transmissions, hydraulic systems or power-steering systems call for any of the legacy and current specifications listed above. Confirm the exact spec for the application in the AMSOIL vehicle lookup guide and review viscosity and application guidance in the AMSOIL ATF guide before ordering.

Pair every fluid change with a fresh transmission filter on transmissions equipped with a serviceable filter or pan magnet. Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF is compatible with conventional and synthetic ATFs that meet the same specifications, and supplemental aftermarket additives are not required.

  • GMC Transmission

Driving a GMC I am always aware that the transmission is an issue. But my mind is put to ease using Amsoil. My transmission run 10 degrees cooler than it used too even pulling a trailer since I switched to Amsoil.

Frequently asked questions

Is AMSOIL Signature Series Multi-Vehicle ATF compatible with DEXRON VI?

No. Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF (ATF) covers GM DEXRON II, DEXRON III, and AutoTrak II, not DEXRON VI. Late-model GM transmissions calling for DEXRON HP or DEXRON VI should be filled with Signature Series Fuel-Efficient Synthetic ATF, which is the AMSOIL grade rated for DEXRON HP, DEXRON VI and Ford MERCON LV / SP. Confirm the spec stamped on the dipstick or printed in the owner's manual before ordering.

Can Signature Series Multi-Vehicle ATF be used where Mercon SP or Mercon LV is required?

No. The Multi-Vehicle grade covers Ford MERCON and MERCON V, not MERCON LV or MERCON SP. Vehicles that call for MERCON LV or MERCON SP should be filled with Signature Series Fuel-Efficient Synthetic ATF, which is licensed against MERCON LV and SP. Substituting a heavier multi-vehicle fluid in a transmission designed for a low-viscosity factory fluid is not recommended.

Will it mix with the existing factory fluid in the transmission?

Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF is fully compatible with conventional and synthetic automatic transmission fluids that meet the same specifications, so a partial drain-and-fill or top-off mixed with like-spec OEM fluid will not damage the transmission. Best results come from a full fluid exchange or a series of drain-and-fill services.

How much longer can the drain interval go?

In passenger cars and light trucks operated in severe service (towing, hauling, stop-and-go, high ambient temperatures, mountain driving), Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF is rated for double the vehicle manufacturer's severe-service drain interval. Under normal service, follow the manufacturer's normal-service interval. Outside the U.S. and Canada, change at the manufacturer's recommended interval.

Does running a synthetic ATF void the transmission warranty?

No. Federal law (Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act) prevents a vehicle manufacturer from voiding a warranty because a non-OE-branded lubricant was used, provided that lubricant meets the required specification. Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF meets the listed OEM specifications and ships covered by the AMSOIL Limited Warranty when used per the Product Data Bulletin.

Is it worth it for an older domestic transmission?

For pre-DEXRON VI GM transmissions, Ford automatics calling for MERCON or MERCON V, and Chrysler ATF+4 transmissions in towing or severe-service use, Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF delivers extended-drain headroom, low-temperature flow and oxidation resistance well beyond conventional ATF.

Where can the data bulletin and SDS be reviewed?

The Product Data Bulletin (g3110) and Safety Data Sheet are linked from the document buttons at the top of this page. The bulletin lists every covered specification, the typical technical properties shown above, and the official severe-service and outside-U.S./Canada service-life statements.
