Torque-Drive is a heavy-duty, fully synthetic automatic transmission fluid built for Allison, MAN, Voith, ZF, and other commercial-grade automatic transmissions running mixed-fleet duty cycles. The formula targets fleets, motorhomes, and Duramax-Allison pickups that need a single multi-spec ATF capable of holding shift quality through extended drains in severe service.
Heavy-duty transmission coverage
Torque-Drive is built for commercial-grade automatic transmissions where the live AMSOIL product page confirms the current fluid match. Use the current product page, the AMSOIL ATF guide, and the equipment manual to confirm coverage before service.
Wear protection in severe service
Severe-service heat, load, and shock cycle conditions break down conventional ATFs and let metal-to-metal contact accelerate wear on clutch packs, planetary gearsets, and pump components. Torque-Drive uses synthetic base oils paired with a heavy-duty additive system to hold viscosity under shear and maintain a high film strength on loaded contact surfaces. Bench testing reports a 0.41 mm Four-Ball Wear scar on the ASTM D4172 test, an indicator of the load-carrying performance available to commercial transmissions hauling at gross weight.
Friction durability and shift quality
Oxidation byproducts attack the friction modifiers that govern clutch engagement, which is why aging conventional ATFs lose crispness, glaze clutches, and stretch shift times. The thermal and oxidative stability of Torque-Drive helps preserve the friction coefficient through the life of the fluid, supporting consistent clutch lockup and engagement feel in heavy-duty applications. Drivers of Allison-equipped diesel pickups, school buses, and refuse trucks see this as smoother, more predictable shifts deeper into the service interval.
Extreme temperature performance
On the hot side, Torque-Drive resists sludge that can plug small valve passages and varnish that can drag on solenoids and shift valves, both of which slow shift times and trigger erratic gear changes. On the cold side, the fluid contains no wax, so it stays fluid in deep winter and supports immediate, quick response from the small electronic solenoids that command modern automatics. A Brookfield viscosity of 8278 cP at -40 degrees C on ASTM D2983 confirms cold pumpability for cold-belt operators, while a 224 degrees C flash point on ASTM D92 supports operation at the high sump temperatures common in towing and grade work.
Long oil life for commercial duty
The viscosity index of 168 on ASTM D2270 means Torque-Drive holds a more stable film across the full operating range than typical petroleum ATFs, which thin out at temperature and thicken when cold. Combined with synthetic oxidation resistance, this supports the extended OEM drain intervals that commercial fleets rely on to control downtime. Torque-Drive is built to ride out long-haul, line-haul, and stop-and-go duty cycles without dropping below spec.
Recommended applications and service guidance
Torque-Drive is intended for heavy-duty automatic transmissions in fleet, bus, motorhome, pickup, and vocational applications where the current AMSOIL product page confirms the match. Follow the OEM service interval for the specific transmission, vocation, and operating temperature class.
Pair Torque-Drive with a clean, in-spec transmission filter at every service. Mixing with conventional petroleum ATFs is not recommended because it dilutes the synthetic additive system and the friction profile that Torque-Drive is engineered to hold. Aftermarket friction modifier or stop-leak additives are not required and can disturb the fluid balance.

In all my vehicles and motorhome. Towing a 5000 pound 4Runner in the summer in California can get pretty Hot, but no worries with this stuff.

Great product
I did a full transmission draining change. Not knowing that I needed a total of 18 quarts I only ordered 1 gallon which equals 4 quarts. However, when I put those 4 quarts in there, I noticed the huge difference in my transmission without even putting the other 14 quarts in there. Now I’m ordering four more gallons.

Best, high torque trans fluid
I used torque drive for the first time in my 2005 GMC Duramax diesel with a Allison 1000 transmission. It's back 7 years ago and it works superbly for 40,000 MI and then it needed to be changed again. So I bought the same thing from amsoil torque drive and put it in again. Hopefully I can get another 40,000 mi out of it
Check the live AMSOIL product page and the transmission operator manual for the current specification match before service.
Can Torque-Drive be used in a Duramax with an Allison 1000 transmission?
Torque-Drive covers the Allison TES specifications applicable to the Allison 1000 used behind the Duramax diesel. For specific model-year coverage, run the truck through the vehicle lookup guide to confirm fluid and capacity before ordering.
What is the recommended drain interval for Torque-Drive?
Follow the extended service interval published by the original equipment manufacturer for the performance specification covering the transmission. Allison, Voith, ZF, MAN, and other heavy-duty OEMs publish severity-based intervals tied to vocation, GVW, terrain, and ambient temperature, and Torque-Drive is built to last to those caps when service is performed on time.
Will using Torque-Drive affect the transmission OEM warranty?
Using a fluid that meets the OEM-required specification does not by itself void the transmission warranty under US federal warranty law. Confirm the current specification match on the live AMSOIL product page and follow the equipment manual.
Does Torque-Drive flow well in cold-weather operation?
Cold flow is a strength of this formula. With a Brookfield viscosity of 8278 cP at -40 degrees C on ASTM D2983 and a -56 degrees C pour point on ASTM D97, Torque-Drive moves through the pump and supports normal solenoid and valve-body response on cold starts in fleet and motorhome service.
